Cyprus

Cyprus is a European island in the eastern part of the Mediterranean Sea. Cyprus is the third largest island in the Mediterranean and one of the most popular tourist destinations in the world, attracting over 2.5 million tourists each year.

Cyprus gained independence from UK in 1960 and since then has turned into a developed country and becoming member of the European Union in May 2004. Cyprus was invaded and occupied in 1974 by Turkey taking over one-third of the island. This led to the displacement of thousands of Greek-Cypriots.

The Cypriot economy is prosperous and has diversified in recent years. Its perfect climate, sun and sea, the hospitality of its people, its remarkable history and religious and historic heritage, its cosmopolitan and lively nightlife, along with its cuisine makes Cyprus the ultimate place to be.
